| "I was married in an outdoor ceremony on a beautiful Saturday evening in Rochester Michigan a few years ago. Money was tight back then and my budget did not allow much for flowers or anything else for that matter. With a little practice, and using my degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising, I was able to create all of my bridesmaid’s flowers as well as all the centerpieces. much they loved the flowers and wanted to know who did them for me. Well, imagine their surprise when I told them that I did all the flowers!
Using my creativity I was able to add slight variations to the traditional wedding ceremony. Several of my guests told me that I did a wonderful job and that I should go into the party planning business. Well, that’s when I met Pam Drake, a freelance illustrator who owned her own greeting card company. I was purchasing her cards for gift baskets for my other company, Hannah’s Baskets, for close to a year before it hit me. I figured that if I was making silk floral arrangements, custom invitations would be the perfect compliment for a party planning business. Pam and I have been creating beautiful parties, weddings and corporate events ever since.
We both figured that party and event planning wasn’t for everyone, and that we could all use a little help now and then. That’s why we chose S.O.S. as our company name.

| "I have always been a creative and energetic person! I seldom, if ever, sit down for any length of time (just ask my family and friends)! In 1989, I decided it was time to bring that love to the forefront! I returned to college to complete my degree in Fine Arts. During that same time, I began designing and producing

note cards from pencil illustrations and selling them to family, friends, co-workers and local gift shops, and haven't stopped since!
About four years ago, I was introduced to Lisa by a close business acquaintance who thought the two of us would have something to offer each other in terms of business. She was running a successful gift basket company, and I was a freelance illustrator and owner of an online greeting card company. The meeting was strictly business, but we hit it off, right from the start! For about a year, Lisa was purchasing my note cards for her gift baskets. It wasn't long after that, that she asked if I would be interested in designing hand-made wedding invitations for a business idea she was working on. Since I already owned my own business, I was a little reluctant to jump into anything else. Fortunately, she wasn't satisfied with that answer, and before I knew it, she and I were standing in line at the County office signing our names to our new partnership, "S.O.S. of Rochester"! |
